November 6, 2026 – Yuba City Police Department officials report that on October 27, 2026, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), with assistance from the Yuba City Police Department and the Sutter County Sheriff's Department, executed search warrants at two locations in Yuba City: the 1500 block of Tombi Way and the 800 block of Richland Road.
The investigation focused on Hector Castaneda of Yuba City, a convicted felon suspected of illegally possessing a firearm.
During the searches, investigators located and seized the following items:
- One AR-15 rifle
- Two AR-15 magazines
- One Glock magazine
- Five rounds of 20-gauge shotgun ammunition
As a result of the investigation, Castaneda was arrested and booked into the Sutter County Jail on the following charges:
- 29800(a)(1) PC – Felon in possession of a firearm
- 30605(a) PC – Possession of an assault weapon
- 30305(a)(1) PC – Felon prohibited from possessing ammunition
