Safety Tip: Have a Fire Escape Plan
According to a recent survey, only one of every three American households have actually developed and practiced a home fire escape plan. If a fire breaks out in your home, you may have only a few minutes, at most, to get out safely. Draw a map of your home showing all doors and windows and know at least two ways out of every room. Designate an outside meeting place a safe distance from the home where everyone should meet. Practice your home fire drill at night and during the day with everyone in your home, twice a year.
Most importantly be sure you have a working smoke alarm in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of your home. Test your smoke alarms every month. Smoke alarms play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injury.
