July 27, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Tamarack Fire in Alpine County for Tuesday-Wednesday.

Fire: The Tamarack Fire is 68,103 acres with 54% containment, an increase of about 300 acres from yesterday. Lower temperatures, higher humidity, and periodic cloud cover today will help moderate fire activity and growth should be limited. However, there is a chance of thunderstorms again today, and gusty outflow winds over the fire could cause an increase in fire activity.

Smoke: Storms passed through the area yesterday afternoon through last night, bringing stronger winds and scattered rain that helped improve air quality across the region. Moderate W-SW winds arrive this afternoon and air quality should further improve. Dixie Fire smoke will return late tonight in the Reno and Fallon areas, but at lower concentrations than previous nights. Some areas may see periods of Good air quality this afternoon and evening, as well as tomorrow.

Health and Safety: Air quality may change rapidly. If you begin to notice health effects from smoke, you are encouraged to follow the "actions to protect yourself" listed below.
