Smoke: Smoke impacts will be greatest north of the fire area today: Mineral, Chester, and beyond. Communities south and east of the fire should see improved air quality Tuesday. This morning is starting pleasant in the Central Valley, but smoke may flow down drainages to Paradise, Chico and Los Molinos this evening. A Reno/Tahoe area forecast is available in the links section below under "Tamarack Smoke Info".
Health and Safety:
Smoke is made up of a complex mixture of gases and fine particles. These can get into your eyes and respiratory system whether you are outdoors or indoors. This can cause health problems such as burning eyes, runny nose, and illnesses such as bronchitis. Fine particles also can aggravate chronic heart and lung diseases - and even are linked to premature deaths in people with these conditions.
