July 30, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Tamarack Fire in Alpine County for Friday-Saturday.
Fire: The Tamarack Fire is 68,696 acres with 65% containment, an increase of about 100 acres from yesterday. Fire activity today is expected to be low with minimal fire spread. However, there is a chance of thunderstorms again today, and gusty outflow winds over the fire could cause an increase in fire activity.
Smoke: Light to moderate smoke from the Dixie Fire will continue to impact the area, especially the Reno, Tahoe, Fernley, and Fallon areas. Expect a bit more smoke tonight into tomorrow morning compared to last night and this morning. Smoke concentrations today and tomorrow will depend on Dixie Fire activity, as well as whether thunderstorms continue to produce strong outflow winds. Smoke impacts from the Tamarack Fire will be limited to those communities near the fire, with continued moderate smoke in the Woodfords and Markleeville areas, especially overnight through mid-morning.
