August 1, 2021 - The Plumas County Sheriff's Office reports we have made some significant reductions to our Mandatory Evacuation Orders and Warnings. Especially as they relate to the Indian Valley and Lake Almanor (west and east) areas. The areas which had previously been under a mandatory Evacuation Order have a “strike line” through the descriptions and you will now find them listed in the Warning section. The areas having their Warning lifted have a “strike line” through the descriptions.

Progress is being made and is anticipated to continue, pending we continue to see advantageous weather and fire conditions.

Please do not call our dispatch center to ask questions about these modifications or to ask when another area will be changed. They do not have information different from this and it only hinders their ability to do their job.

The following areas have been reduced from a mandatory Evacuation Order to an Evacuation Warning: Prattville and Canyon Dam, Greenville and Crescent Mills, Taylorsville, Chandler Rd WEST, Chandler Rd EAST (NORTH SIDE ONLY), Genesee Valley, North and Eastern parts of Indian Valley, Grizzly Mountain, Bucks Lake.

HWY 89 north from the intersection of Chandler Rd West is open.

Old Highway Road, Round House Road, Keddie, Black Hawk Rd, Butterfly Valley, and the HWY 70 corridor from Barlow Rd to the Greenville Wye are still under Mandatory evacuation order; however residents are able to return to their place of residence ONLY. Anything out side of their own residence is still considered Mandatory Evacuation areas. Please be aware that there could still be smoldering stumps or other “hot” spots-there is no need to report these. Per Plumas County Environmental Health, an assessment of the water supply has not been done in these areas therefore it is not recommended to drink the water. Bottled water should be used for consumption.

The following areas have had their Warning lifted: West Quincy, East Quincy.

Meadow Valley remains under a Mandatory Evacuation Order due to the active firefighting operations north of the community.

We will continue to evaluate the zones which are still active and make changes when safe.
