Do Not Enter Restricted Areas Until Evacuation Orders are Lifted

August 9, 2021 - The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office want to remind evacuees that while they are understandably eager to get back to their homes and properties, the Dixie Fire is still active, and the public must remain out of evacuation order zones until they are Plumas County Sheriff logodowngraded to warnings or lifted. Please do not attempt to enter restricted areas until evacuation orders are lifted. Evacuation zones will be strictly enforced to protect the safety of residents, as well as first responders. You can determine your zone and see evacuation status by entering your address in the evacuation map located at: https://tinyurl.com/ydrapp24.

Burn scar areas can be a dangerous environment as extensive damage to infrastructure and vegetation is likely, as well as potentially hot smoldering sections. As an overview, residents can expect the following actions from county and State partners as we all work together on re-entry:

  1. CALFIRE must release the area as free from active fire;
  2. Law enforcement (Plumas County Sheriff) will post ‘Hazardous Area’ signs to compromised properties;
  3. Caltrans will ensure that roads are passable.

Concerns of animal welfare within an evacuation zone may be directed to Plumas County Animal Services at 530-283-3673. Please be assured that life safety of our residents, animals and personal property are the top priority for all first responders.

For Dixie Fire information and resources visit www.plumascounty.us and follow the County Facebook, to stay up-to-date on information regarding re-entry and recovery.
