August 12, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Monument Fire for Thursday.

Fire: This morning, the McFarland is reporting 36,552 acres and 51% containment, while the Monument Fire grew another 4700 acres to is 67,190 acres - last reported containment is 3%. The chance of dry thunderstorms begins mid-afternoon today and will carry into Friday bringing gusty winds that will allow for extreme fire behavior and will test the containment lines for crews on both fires.

Smoke: Yesterday, we again saw the greatest smoke impacts near the fire and to the west, however, a west-northwest flow this afternoon that could increase smoke dispersion and improve air quality for those areas. The Sacramento Valley will also see some smoke lift this afternoon, but some potential evening impacts possible on the north end of the valley as smoke from both fires, and neighboring fires, settles in overnight.
