August 14, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Saturday.

Fire: The Dixie Fire is now 540,581 acres, an increase of 24,825 acres with 31% Contained. The fire perimeter expanded on both the East and West Zones due to outflow winds from the thunderstorms yesterday. Operations include structure protection, line improvement (may include some burnout) and mopup

Smoke: Winds will be from the southwest today pushing smoke to the north and east of the fire. Thunderstorms may add to the mixing around the fire area. Expect heavy smoke in the Susanville and Chester areas throughout the day. Unhealthy air can be expected around Old Station and Portola. There may be some decreasing air quality overnight in most mountain locations.

Health and Safety: 
If you have a central air conditioning system, use high efficiency filters to capture fine particles from smoke. If your system has a fresh air intake, set the system to recirculate mode or close the outdoor intake damper. https://www.cdc.gov/disasters/wildfires/duringfire.html
