August 16, 2021 - In times like these, people from all walks of life, step up to help others giving and donating their time and resources. Here in Plumas County, there are many incredible individuals and organizations that have come together to help people affected by the Dixie Fire. The World Central Kitchen (WCK) is an organization that coordinates with local volunteers and restaurants, providing free fresh meals to those affected by the fire.

We all know that the devastating Dixie Fire has brought tragedy to this scenic mountain community. Whether your family has lived here for generations, or you have only lived here for a few months, all have had to make hard decisions during this difficult time. If you are evacuated from your home, one important question is what or where am I going to eat?

This is where World Central Kitchen (WCK) comes to the rescue. WCK uses the power of food to empower communities and strengthen economies. WCK’s works with their own employees (called food responders) as well as local volunteers. They coordinate with local restaurants to provide free hot, nourishing meals to fire responders and evacuees.

The World Central Kitchen confronts crises with kindness. They know that good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of emergencies.
