Dixie Fire – East/West Zone Line Adjustment
August 16, 2021 - In order to efficiently and effectively manage firefighting operations on the Dixie Fire, management teams will amend the current management zones. This will allow firefighting operations to utilize the closest resources to the fire lines resulting in enhanced firefighter safety and increasing firefighting suppression efforts. The amended zones will also enhance aviation safety increasing firefighting suppression efforts from the air.
Dixie Fire management teams are continually assessing firefighting operations for the safest, most efficient, and most effective fire suppression strategies. This zone amendment is a testament to the strong collaborative effort of both management teams that will continue working together for the benefit of the citizens safety, firefighter safety, and operational effectiveness.
WHEN: Effective at 7:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 17th, 2021
WHERE: The West Zone will be amended to include north boundary line of; north of Hamilton Branch to Mt Meadows Reservoir north, To Diamond Mtn. north, to Clarks Peak north.
SAFETY MESSAGE: The public is reminded to stay vigilant on current fire conditions. Please continue to adhere to road closures and any evacuation warnings. A reminder to drive slowly and yield to emergency personnel in the area. There will be smoke in the respective areas as firefighters continue firefighting operations.
