plumas county sheriff info dixie

August 21, 2021 - The Plumas County Sheriff's Office has been working diligently to arrange for residents who have been evacuated by the Dixie Fire to safely enter and view their property over the next few days.

The escort will take place as the area has been deemed safe from active fire and hazard trees ONLY for temporary access; it has not been deemed safe for repopulation.

Neighborhoods have been split into blocks by geography and population count. Each block of residents will be escorted to their properties by Plumas County Sheriff’s deputies to assess their properties for 30 minutes. A couple things to note:

  • If you are late, you will be denied entry. Please be respectful of these time frames to ensure you have enough time and so do your neighbors.
  • It may take you an extended amount of time to get to Greenville, so please leave early and be ON TIME!
  • Property owners will NOT be able to sift through their damaged properties due to environmental health hazards. Please note that if you do so, you may impact your eligibility for state-assisted cleanup, as well as your insurance process.
  • Please be respectful of the allotted time to allow for the remainder of your neighbors to access their properties during their scheduled time.

Residents of affected areas are being contacted by Plumas County Sheriff’s Office throughout the day Saturday with their allotted date, time, and entrance location.

Escorts will begin Sunday, August 22 or Monday, August 23 and will take between three and five days to complete.

There is a health hazard to entering an area affected by a wildfire. You will be required to sign a waiver to enter the area and should enter AT YOUR OWN RISK.

N95 masks will be provided to those who partake in this process.

To find out which group you will be in please use the below information. You can also use the map to find out which Block # your home is located in, then refer back to this information to see the date and time for your entry.
