August 22, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Monument Fire for Sunday.
Fire: Heavy smoke again limited active fire yesterday at both the McFarland and Monument Fires. On the McFarland Fire , acreage was last recorded at 116,423 and increased to 64% containment. The Monument Fire is now 145,357 acres and remains at 16% containment.
Smoke: Very similar situation today as yesterday. The greatest smoke impacts will continue to be in those communities in the mountains near active fire, where conditions continue to be Very Unhealthy to Hazardous air quality. Smoke for the McCash Fire continues to be a wildcard for the Hoopa Valley and communities along the 101 Highway into Mendocino County and will likely mix down as the marine layer breaks down later this morning, but they should see otherwise Good air quality. Communities in the northern Sacramento River Valley will generally see conditions in Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups as the valley winds will mitigate smoke drifting into the area to some degree.
