August 29, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Sunday.

Fire: The Dixie Fire is now 764,135 acres, an increase of 7,367 acres since yesterday, with 48% Containment. Active fire behavior and smoke production remains predominantly on the northern and southeastern perimeters.

Smoke:  Heavy smoke impacts remain over the region this morning. Generally Unhealthy air quality exists in most communities in the forecast zone and higher impacts are being seen in Chester and areas nearer the fire. Through today, southwesterly winds will start to lift and drift smoke off to the east and north. This will begin to improve air quality for those residents west and south of the fire (i.e., along the Sacramento Valley foothills and Quincy). Smoke from other fires in Northern California may drift over the Eastern Sierra which could limit some of the improvement however. Susanville, and to the east of the fire, should expect poor air quality to remain. Overall improvement is expected for early in the week as stronger southwest winds bring in clearer air.

Health and Safety:
Long-term smoke events usually have periods when the air is better. When air quality improves, even temporarily, air out your home to reduce indoor air pollution https://www.airnow.gov/sites/default/files/2021-07/reduce-your-smoke-exposure.pdf
