August 30, 2021 - The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Caldor Fire for Monday.
Special Statement: The fire is scheduled to be under a Red Flag Warning from 11:00 AM today until 8:00 PM tomorrow
Fire: The Caldor fire is now 177,260 acres, with 14% containment.
Smoke: SW winds will reestablish earlier this morning and smoke transport will be to the NE. Smoke that settled overnight, both on the west side of the Sierra Crest and within the Tahoe Basin, will begin to clear by noon. The higher concentrations of smoke in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe may take longer to clear. By early afternoon the North side of the basin, including Reno, Truckee, and Tahoe City should enjoy Moderate air quality for the majority of the day as smoke travels over the Southern heel of the Basin. Potentially Carson City, but confidently South Lake Tahoe will see overnight pooling of smoke tonight and smoky conditions tomorrow morning.
Health and Safety: Take it easier during smoky times to reduce how much smoke you inhale. If it looks or smells smoky outside, avoid strenuous activities such as mowing the lawn or going for a run. Reduce Your Exposure
