September 1, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Monument Fire for Wednesday.

Fire: Cooler, dry weather persists with light variable transport winds over the fires. The Monument Fire is now 172,292 acres with containment of 29%. The Knob Fire near Willow Creek has grown to 1,000 acres. The McFarland Fire remains at 122,653 acres and containment of 96%.

Smoke: Smoke is expected to be mostly terrain driven with areas near active fires continuing to see Hazardous to Unhealthy conditions. With the exceptionally dry fuels and weak transport winds smoke is expected to build and be very slow to clear. Smoke is anticipated to push more towards the coast and south into Mendocino county the next couple days with an off shore north flow. Some improvement is predicted in Redding and the northern reaches of the Sacramento River Valley as winds from the south increase. Willow Creek and nearby communities in the Trinity River Valley, should see worsening conditions due to the Knob Fire. Similar conditions expected tomorrow.
