September 3, 2021 -  The US Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program Smoke Outlook for the Dixie Fire for Friday.

Fire: The Dixie Fire is 868,781 acres, an increase of 9,324 acres since yesterday, with 55% Containment. Winds still remain strong and relative humidity will remain low over much of the fire area leading to continued fire activity. The Dixie Fire is being managed in two cooperative zones - West and East.

Smoke: With changing wind directions and a stabilizing atmosphere, we will see more smoke move into communities across the forecast area. Across both fire zones, winds will be shifting today coming more out of the east. East winds across the East Zone of the fire should clear smoke out of Doyle and communities along Highway 395 throughout the day. East to Southeast winds over the West Zone of the fire will bring smoke into Old Station and Burney throughout the day. Overnight smoke that has settled in valley locations may lift mid-day, but Chester and areas West of the fire will get smoke throughout the day. The Sacramento Valley will see smoke today and worsening air quality as East winds across the fire bring smoke West.
