It was a great day for the Republican Party, but not so great for many others.
Losers are the minimum-wage workers who are hoping for an increase in wage that will help move them out of poverty. Losers are the teachers and policemen laid off because of the relentless pressure to reduce the size of government. That also applies to deteriorating infrastructure such as roads.
Winners are the 1% whose election investment is paying off. Winners are the coal, petroleum, and gas companies whose fortunes are tied to a headlong plunge into a climate catastrophe.
The one bright spot was when Republican leadership realized the need to purge the party of the weirdos that were contributing the the party’s bad image. Well, partial purging.
