Mariposa County Parks and Recreation’s Day Camp Scholarship Program received a $500 donation from Soroptimist International of Mariposa. The scholarship program provides qualifying children the opportunity to attend the full summer program free-of-charge. This year, Day Camp was able to award 28 scholarships to both full and part-time attending children. The Day Camp is for children 7-12 years old, and runs the entire summer, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Mariposa County Park.
For more information about the Day Camp contact the Parks and Recreation Division at (209) 966-2498 or go to MariposaCounty.org, and search “day camp.” Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. In addition to participating in international projects, the Mariposa Club achieves this mission locally by giving scholarships to graduating high school seniors, presenting monetary awards to women that are the heads of their households seeking further education, and donating funds and services to organizations such as Ethos Youth Center, Mountain Crisis Services, Manna House, Habitat for Humanity and Heritage House.
