Music on the Green – the free summer concert series brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and its many fine sponsors – continues into the 2017 season, presenting live, in concert, Cottonwood Creek (featuring Maggie and Scott Little) on Friday, July 14, and The Shakers on Saturday, July 15.

CC Promo LiveCottonwood Creek featuring Maggie and Scott Little

Local Mariposa singer/songwriter Scott Patrick Little and his partner Maggie Watkins Little (married last year!) have been entertaining audiences all over California’s Central Valley and Foothills at venues of all sizes with a high energy Americana/Country/Folk sound that has even impressed Nashville, where they also left their mark in recent years. Five years ago, they formed Cottonwood Creek and have been compared to The Old Crow Medicine Show and Zac Brown, in the performing of their own original foot-stomping music with tight blended vocal harmonies. They made a recording in Nashville that climbed the SiriusXM Radio Country charts, so as their horizons are expanding, come see Cottonwood Creek before they break nationally; they’re on the brink.

ShakersThe Shakers

Just added due to the scheduled band’s beyond our control cancellation, The Shakers will make their debut on the Art Park stage Saturday. Hailing from the Central Valley, The Shakers blend Blues, Old Country, and Rockabilly genres that can be collectively defined as Roots Music. The band will be taking a break from the recording of their original Roots Rock to showcase the songs live at Music on the Green.

More on each of these groups can be found on their web and/or facebook pages.

All performances begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.

Shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.

The Mariposa Arts Council, sponsor of Cousin Jack's Mariposa Evenings, is funded in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
