July 17, 2017 - Mariposa County –State Route 49 (SR-49) is closed from Pendola Garden Road north of the town of Mariposa to SR-132 in the town of Coulterville due to the Detwiler Fire burning in a remote part of the county.

The fire started on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at 3:56 p.m. and is currently at 7,100 acres in size with limited containment achieved according to CalFire. It is not known when the highway will reopen at this time.

Motorists should expect 60 minute delays and seek alternate routes.
