Reminder: Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office Reminds People to NOT Use Drones Around Active Fire Areas
Note: The Mariposa County Landfill will be open Monday, July 31st, from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. for food waste and regular, non burned garbage.
July 31, 2017 - The Detwiler Wildfire in Mariposa County began on Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2017 at around 3:56 P.M. at Detwiler Road across from Hunters Valley Road about 2 miles east of Lake McClure. As of Sunday evening the fire was at 81,826 acres with 90% containment.

Firefighters continued working the fire and continued to mop up and patrol lines. All fire lines are holding. Crews will continue to implement the Incident Fireline Suppression Repair Plan. The public is reminded to stay vigilant for any change in fire conditions.

For Community members who received CalFRESH benefits, the county received a "Mass Replacement Waiver" to ensure that all CalFRESH recipients who were impacted by the fire based on power outages receive additional CalFRESH benefits for the month of July.
