South Fork Fire Information for Wawona Community
A Hazard Alert Message is being issued by the Yosemite National Park Service for the Wawona community due to a nearby wildfire.
It is currently at low threat potential that may require evacuation in 24 hours or more. Residents and visitors are encouraged to make appropriate pre-evacuation preparations.

Update: 5:15 P.M. 20 Acres
August 13, 2017 - Sunday afternoon - Per Yosemite Fire and Aviation: There is a new confirmed fire at the South Fork of the Merced drainage, south of Wawona Dome. Air resources are on scene and suppression operations are in progress. Rangers will close Chilnualna Falls trail at the bottom. Wawona residents should know Rangers are arranging information for the community. All local businesses are aware. Fire is visible from the Swinging Bridge area.
