Depending on the number of hours a student works or volunteers during the week, they can earn 2, 3 or 4 elective units while earning their paychecks.
“We can usually accommodate all students,” Dr. Myshel Pimentel said. “We’ll look at a student’s major and their occupational goals and get them signed up for the right class. Then the job site that they’d be working in anyway becomes the classroom.
“We use a weekly average of hours worked or volunteered to determine how many units the student can earn. Those are transfer-level elective credits for state schools and some privates like Fresno Pacific. Because they are earning credits for it, a lot of students that have to work use this class to balance their school and work loads.”
Interested parties can attend an orientation on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lesher Student Services Center, room 111.
