Rochelle Wilcox Announces Run for Congress

Rochelle WilcoxRochelle Wilcox will be the special guest at the next Mariposa Democratic Club meeting to announce her Congressional candidacy to all Mariposans. The club meets Saturday, September 9, at the Miners Roadhouse (5159 Hwy. 140) at 9:45 a.m. This meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend. She is the fourth candidate to speak before the club about their run in the Congressional race.

Wilcox, a resident of Roseville, is running against Rep. Tom McClintock. As a successful undergrad, she earned herself a scholarship to a top 50 law school and graduated first in her class. This was after all the odds were against her as the child of a single mom and a childhood used to economic struggles.

After law school, she got hired by a top 50 law firm, Davis Wright Tremaine, and became a first amendment specialist. She has represented many clients before the California Supreme Court and Appellate Courts, usually on the winning side.

Wilcox believes the country is at a critical juncture and she wants to fight to make it better. Her interests are economic opportunities, affordable health care, quality education, and a chance for working families to succeed.

One of the items she would like to work on as a Congressional representative is making the Supreme Court decision Citizens United actually work as the court expected. She wants to see transparency in donations to elections.

The public is invited to hear her speak and ask questions. If you want to buy breakfast for yourself, please arrive at 9:00 a.m. Free coffee and water will be available.

This event is being sponsored by the Mariposa Democratic Club
