December 14, 2017 - Sierra Foothill Charter School staff has been working with students on the meaning of the core virtue stewardship. On Friday, December 8, teachers recognized students who exemplify through their actions what it means to be a good steward in their classrooms and on campus.
SFCS 4234Congratulations to these students: Astrid Ardell, Sophie Bullis, Levi Evans, Olivia English, Brandon Naranjo, Kensley Silva, Matthew Corn, Daisy Salonen, Ryan Ramirez, and Tristan McCulloch.

Andrea Contreras' seventh and eighth grade class led the assembly by explaining what stewardship looks like in the classroom, school, home, community, world, and for our future.

The school also held it's monthly drawing at the assembly. Throughout the month, students who are behaving exceptionally well or doing something above and beyond the ordinary are given tickets by staff members. They can use these tickets to immediately pick an item from the treasure chest in the office or they can put them in a jar to enter into the monthly drawing for a special prize. This month's prize was coloring books and a huge pack of markers.
SFCS 4243Congratulations to Atticlus Yu, this month's winner.

After the assembly, staff members organized a number of activity stations for students to choose from to enjoy the last hour of the day. These included air rockets on the playing field; face painting, chalk art, volleyball, and basketball on the blacktop; art in the multi; scratch art, bookmark making, and coloring in Teena Starchman's third and fourth grade classroom; and time to chat and hang out with friends. Students always enjoy this hour of fun activities held once per month.

SFCS 4292Face and hand painting are always popular. Seventh and eighth grade teacher Andrea Contreras paints the hand of Sophie Bullis while Astrid Ardell and Echo Solis-White wait their turns.
