January 24, 2018 - The National Weather Service Hanford office reports a Pacific storm system will impact the region tonight through Thursday night with light to locally moderate precipitation, especially over the higher terrain.

The storm will bring 2 to 6 inches of snow over the Sierra by Thursday evening with up to 10 inches of snow over the higher elevations of Yosemite National Park.

This will bring potentially hazardous winter driving conditions and travel delays.

Snow levels will fall to as low as 3500 feet over the Kern County Mountains Thursday night. Although not much precipitation is expected, and even light snowfall or wet roads with freezing temperatures may make driving difficult over the Grapevine and over Tehachapi Pass.

Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 35. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday
A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 10am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night
A chance of showers before 10:00 p.m, then a slight chance of rain after 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
