March 7, 2018 - For six consecutive Wednesday's, a representative from Mariposa Safe Families is teaching weekly lessons from the Second Step Child Protection unit to Sierra Foothill Charter School students in grades TK through 4. In this unit, students learn three types of safety: personal safety, touching safety, and assertiveness. Parents were invited to an informational meeting about the program ahead of time. Students are sent home with information about what they learned after each session.

For the last two weeks, Teena Starchman's third and fourth graders been learning about the never-never rules, such as never ride in a car without a seat belt and never cross the street without looking all ways for traffic. Students are quickly learning all their never never rules and are making great choices to stay safe.
