This was a wonderful opportunity for young women to learn about the variety of options available to them in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Seventy-four students, including some SFCS students, rotated through three informal table talks with 15 inspirational women in STEM related fields--everything from engineering to chemistry to physics and even a crime scene investigator. SFCS Board Chair, Angelina Brouillette, who is a Veterinarian, was one of the participants.
SFCS thanks AAUW, UC Merced, all the scientists who participated, and Mariposa Youth Impact Project (MYiP), the organizer of the event, for this wonderful opportunity. This is an annual event that will feature new scientists for students to meet and get inspired by every year.
SFCS students Judith Phillips and Samantha Telles-Trujillo arrive at UC Merced for Dinner with a Scientist.
SFCS student Trinity Owens sits with Marilyn Fogel, a Professor in the School of Natural Sciences at UC Merced, and also the mother of SFCS Instructional Aide Dana Swarth.
