Coarsegold residents speaking out after man shot at his mother and killed her boyfriend

April 1, 2018 - Madera County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the homicide that occurred March 30, 2018 on Little John Drive in Coarsegold.
The 25 year old male subject detained last night for questioning by Detectives has been taken into custody.
Jacob Burdett of Coarsegold has been arrested and charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder. He has been transported and booked in at Madera County Department of Corrections.
The identity of the decedent is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.

March 31, 2018 - On March 30, 2018 shortly before 7:30 pm, Madera County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Road 416 and Robin Hood Drive in Coarsegold in regards to a disturbance.
According to witness statements, there was some type of altercation involving two vehicles traveling on Little John Drive.
The lead vehicle stopped at a residence. There was an altercation involving the occupants, as well as a male from the residence. At one point, a male and female from one of the vehicles was shot. The male is deceased and the 41 year old female was transported to a local hospital. The identities of both victims are being withheld at this time.
The female victim has been identified as the shooter’s mother, and the male decedent is her significant other. At this time, the details of the shooting remain unclear. A 25 year old male has been detained and is being interviewed by Detectives. The investigation remains ongoing.
