Northwestern Mariposa County in central California... Southwestern Tuolumne County in northern California... * Until 215 PM PDT * At 820 AM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain moving across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Excessive rainfall over the Detwiler burn scar will result in debris flow or mudslides in and around the Detwiler burn scar. Line of heavy rain stretches far back to the west, and will move over the burn scar and nearby areas over the next few hours at least. The debris flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Bootjack, Mariposa, Catheys Valley and Lake McClure. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos may occur. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe.
