May 3, 2018 - On April 24, local artist Penny Otwell visited Sierra Foothill Charter School and painted en plein air for all the students to observe. This was Penny's third year coming to campus to show students how she paints outside and give them a chance to ask questions. They had many questions! In about 3 hours, Penny created five small paintings, one for each classroom. Penny also gifted the school with the large painting she created on campus last March. SFCS is very grateful to Penny for her generosity of time and talents - and for the paintings! What wonderful gifts she brings to the students, and how special that we will have her paintings in classrooms as reminders and encouragement for students to keep exploring their creativity.
Penny answers the question asked by Conner Knauf while Instructional Aide Margaret Shelton and other kindergarten students look on.
Otwell enjoyed answering questions from Teena Starchman's third and fourth grade class. Instructional Aide Christy Lombard is pictured.
Here are some of the en plein air paintings Otwell is gifting to SFCS classrooms.
