June 5, 2018 - Genealogy: DNA - The Genealogist's Newest Tool. The Merced County Genealogical Society will be holding a DNA presentation on Saturday June 16 at the Merced Library. The presentation will include a short review of DNA for Dummies (DNA for the non-scientist), the different kinds of test that are available (and what they do and don't tell us), a comparison of the different companies offering DNA tests, and finally, where you can transfer your DNA results to find more matches.
Speaker: Robert Givens is a genealogist with 60 years of experience who specializes in Pennsylvania and New England research. He is a long-time worker and past director of Family History Centers in Fresno and recently was a Data Admin for the FamilySearch Family Tree. He has enthusiastically included DNA testing in his genealogy research as he tries to break brick walls.
