June 5, 2018 – For 53 years Sierra Tel has sponsored a contest in mathematics among the elementary schools in the company’s service area, including Mariposa and Oakhurst.
Sierra Tel officials believe mathematics is a desirable skill in which to excel, especially as it relates to engineering and science.
The top two math students from each school compete in the contest. The winner from each participating school is awarded a personal trophy.
The student receiving the highest score from among all the schools within their district wins the perpetual trophy to display in his/ her school’s trophy case.
For the first time this year, SFCS participated. Here is our top scoring student (pictured), Ian Beutel-DePrano, being given his personal trophy by Sierra Tel Representative Debbie Peters.
