SFCS-chili-cook-off Jim DuBois takes a serving from one of last year’s Chili Cook-Off Contestants

In conjunction with Mariposa Safe Families, each student in Mrs. Wilde's seventh and eighth grade class is participating in Club Live, a program all about keeping kids safe from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and anything else that might be a bad choice. As part of Club Live, the class is putting on a community event to raise awareness. They are hosting their third annual Chili Cook-off to Keep Kids Safe on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 5 to 7:30 PM on campus, 4952 School House Road in Catheys Valley.

There is no fee to enter the contest. The cost to dine on delicious homemade chili is a mere $5.00 per person. Cornbread and drinks will also be available.

If you have an amazing chili recipe and would like to participate, call Chivonne Wilde at: 559-676-9926 to reserve a spot. Wilde will provide food preparation and service guidelines to all contestants to ensure safe food handling.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best All Around Chili (awards go up to 4th place); Best Vegetarian Chili; and People’s Choice Award.

Prizes include a four person dinner at the Yosemite Bug and Mountain Resort, two $35 gift cards from Pioneer Market, a 2 night cabin stay at The Redwoods in Yosemite, a 1 night stay at the Restful Nest Bed and Breakfast, and a $25 Gift Certificate from Savoury’s Restaurant. All prizes have been donated by our amazingly supportive community.

For more information, call Wilde at: 559-676-9926.

SFCS is also looking for objective adult judges. If you don't have anyone in your family entered in the contest and would like to be a judge, please also contact Wilde. You get to eat for free!
