Sierra Foothill Charter School was proud to participate in Red Ribbon Week from October 26 through October 31. Every day that week, students showed their commitment to remaining drug and alcohol free through spirit wear that corresponded to themes they and other students throughout the county had come up with. There were also educational activities related to the topic going on campus-wide for the full week, culminating in a school wide assembly with special guests from the Mariposa County Sheriff's Department, Mariposa County Probation Department, Mariposa Safe Families, and Heritage House/ C.O.R.E.

Monday's theme was "Team Up Against Drugs." Students and staff wore their favorite sports team gear.

Tuesday's theme was "Stomp on drugs before they turn your life inside out."

On Wednesday, students and staff showed us how crazy they could make their hair because "crazy hair is way more sane than drugs!"

SFCS-RRW4Thursday, students enjoyed a day in their pajamas as they "followed their dreams.... Don't do drugs!" Mrs. Kanarowski's class showed great participation.

On Thursday, SFCS also held a very special assembly that included representatives from the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office, Mariposa County Probation Department, Mariposa Safe Families, and Heritage House/ C.O.R.E. The special guests talked to students about how Red Ribbon Week started, the importance of it, and answered students' questions. Plus, they handed out great mustache t-shirts as prizes for the art contest.

SFCS-rrw5On Friday, SFCS students said "Boo!" to drugs. It was a Halloween dress up day. Students from Mrs. Kanarowski and Mrs. Baumann's classrooms loved getting dressed up.

The Red Ribbon Week program is a fun and educational way to make students aware of the dangers of drugs and alcohol, as well as giving them information on where to go for help. SFCS was thrilled to participate.
