Fire
The fire is now 94,331 acres, 2,829 of new growth, with containment at 43%. Successful firing operations have removed available fuels for the fire to burn near the northern edge of the fire. The most active areas will be the Merced Gorge and Badger Pass area. Unburnt islands are cleaning up available fuels and slowly progressing towards the Yosemite Valley junction in very steep terrain. High pressure in the area will bring more stable air conditions, reducing the fire activity and column development.
Smoke
Light winds and more moderate fire behavior are expected to bring some much needed improvement today, with heavier smoke returning in the evening. Highest concentrations will continue to follow the drainages to the communities on the east of the Sierra's.
Other
Camp Mather no longer has power available to provide accurate readings. This unit will be serviced when power returns. The Badger Pass monitor was offline for part of the day yesterday but is operating again.
