Special Statement
This forecast is focused on smoke behavior in and around Yosemite National Park. The forecast reflects Particulate Matter - not Ozone.
Fire
The Ferguson fire is now 96,824 acres with containment at 87%. Most of the area is in the mop-up and repair phase, with remaining active fire reduced to a few interior islands and a small area between the Merced river and Elephant Rock.
Smoke
Air quality will continue to improve with most of the impact in close proximity to the fire. Following the normal diurnal pattern, smoke that has settled in the Merced river canyon during the nighttime hours will start to lift out during midday, moving up-slope during the day and pooling back into the canyon overnight.
Forecast Stations
Because the smoke impact is very localized, only stations within Yosemite National Park are now included in this outlook. To see data from monitors not on this map, go to tools.airfire.org
