August 27, 2018 - MARIPOSA, CA - The Mariposa Theatre Alliance, a program of the Mariposa County Arts Council, present an open air performance of Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor by Merced Shakespearefest on Saturday, September 22 & Sunday, September 23, 7:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Park Amphitheatre, 4889 County Park Road, Mariposa. 

Tickets are $12.00 for general admission, $10.00 for seniors and students, and $9.00 for Mariposa Arts Council Members.  Tickets may be purchased at the Arts Council’s online shop, which can be found at MariposaArtsCouncil.org or at the Mariposa County Arts Council’s Treetop Gallery (upstairs from Chocolate Soup), 5009 Highway 140, Mariposa.

In this raucous, farcical comedy, directed by Colton Dennis, the roguish Falstaff sets his lecherous sights on Mistresses Ford and Page and their money. When the two "merry wives" see through Falstaff’s plot, they decide to turn the tables on him and devise a plot of their own. Meanwhile, Mistress Page’s daughter, Anne, has romantic troubles of her own from three admirers who all wish to marry her. It’s a hilarious battle of wits as the merry wives and their friends and neighbors get their revenge on Falstaff in the end!

The Mariposa Theatre Alliance (MTA) is an association of producing theatre artists formed to foster and promote theatre throughout Mariposa County. Its purpose is to share information, resources, and technical support. In addition to staging productions, the MTA provides theatre classes and workshops open to members of the community at large. The Mariposa County Amphitheater is the MTA’s home base, but its programs are held countywide.

The MARIPOSA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL, INC. is an incorporated not-for-profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County and is funding in part by Mariposa County, the California Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
