This will be the FINAL UPDATE for the Redinger Fire unless there are significant changes.

August 30, 2018 - The Redinger Fire which started approximately ¼ of a mile above the Redinger Overlook on Forest Road 81, is 100% contained. After a reconnaissance flight for more accurate mapping occurred, the fire consumed 88 acres. Today, fire crews have begun suppression repair of the perimeter where handline, dozer line, and natural features were used as a containment break, removing hoselines and equipment used in their fire suppression operations. Crews will also continue to patrol the fire, mop-up hotspots, and remove hazard vegetation along the perimeter into the burn area as needed.

The Castle Fire which started about ½ mile above the Redinger Fire has burned 7.5 acres, a drop in acres due to more accurate mapping and is also 100% contained. Crews are focused now with mop-up, and suppression repair activities. There are still hotspots and smoldering from within the interior of the burn area. 

Fire crews and apparatus will still be present on Forest Road 81, in the coming days and over the holiday weekend. Please Slow Down, drive safely, and cautiously.

Smokey Conditions: Residents and visitors can expect smokey hotspots in the interior of the fires over the next few weeks as smoldering will continue. Minimal smoke impacts will be felt with the smoldering.
