November 1, 2018 - During the month of October, Sierra Foothill Charter School staff worked with students on the meaning of the core virtue of diligence.
At a school wide assembly on Friday, teachers recognized students who exemplified this trait.
Great job to Banyan Foster, Santiago Torres Rouff, Brylee Bean, Eska Lipsey, Vera Smerber, Yannick Lipsey, Daisy Salonen, Elle Sexton, Patrick Cleary, and Tadd Sexton.
New this month, parents/guardians, students, and staff were invited to submit nominations to the office for Staff Member of the Month. At the assembly, custodian Jon Cook was recognized for exceptional hard work and contributions.
Principal/Superintendent Mindy Bolar praised Mr. Cook for not only doing a great job with his regular responsibilities at school, but always pitching in to help with special events, helping to make garden grow boxes last year, making frames and hanging all the murals around campus that feature student artwork, and so much more. Mr. Cook contributes so much to SFCS.
The assembly also featured a drawing for the month of October's grand prize. Throughout the month, students are given tickets when they exhibit behavior that goes beyond what is normally expected. Students place their tickets in jars in their classrooms. When their ticket is picked, they have the option of immediately choosing a prize from the treasure chest in the school office or entering their ticket in a jar for a chance to win the grand prize for the month. This month's prize was Lite Brite.
Congratulations to Kensley Silva for winning the grand prize.
After the Core Virtues assembly, students enjoyed free time. Staff had many stations set up with activities for students to choose from such as bean bag games, face painting, sidewalk chalk, crafts in Teena Starchman's classroom and in the multipurpose room, foot rockets, or other activities on the field. Students enjoyed their last hour of the day in a variety of ways.
Jillian Davis and Miles Levin enjoy launching foot rockets.
