November 1, 2018 - Yes, it's almost here! The Chocolate Soup Christmas Open House, November 2nd, 3rd & 4th! This will be the 18th year we've had an Open House in the little Red House by the creek. It has become one of the most anticipated events of the year in Mariposa. I am privileged to continue the tradition and hope you will be inspired and filled with the wonder of Christmas when you come!
Dear Miriam, of Miriam & Co., is the matriarch of gift shops in Mariposa. As some of you will remember, Chocolate Soup started at "Jailhouse Square" on Bullion Street. Miriam was the queen of decorating with her flamboyant, colorful style and inspired all of us who had shops there: Elaine, Anne, Joyce, Nancy and myself. Last month Miriam brought me a copy of "The Scoop" from Chocolate Soup, the newsletter Elaine had written before the Open House in 2000. So, in that tradition, I would like to share with you "The Scoop" for the Holiday Season.
- Served in the backyard will be our popular "chocolate soup"--enjoy it with cookies, pretzels, or a marshmallow and a cup of coffee!
- During our Christmas Open House we will be sampling scones, hot chocolate and chai from Mama Bear's Kitchen Co. (formerly known as Souffle!), the locally made mixes we sell. Also--try our pepper jellies, dips and more!
- Pamela Toney will be showing and selling her beautiful "Inspired Gemstones" jewelry in our backyard.
- Manna House will be selling raffle tickets to win a $25, $50 or $75 Gift Certificate to Chocolate Soup. This fundraiser helps them to feed those in need in our community.
- On Saturday, Nov. 3, Manna House will also be offering gift wrapping by donation! So bring any gifts you have to wrap! They'll be offering this special service throughout the season so watch for other locations/dates, too!

Thank you again--to our new and long time customers. If we didn't have your faithful support, Chocolate Soup would not be here! Elaine started the store so Mariposans would have a place to shop and I continue to strive to make this store a special place. Yes, a place to find lovely gifts and décor for your home--but also a place of peace, joy and beauty.
