Storytelling: A Mariposa Tradition
November 14, 2018 - Local Storytellers Get Ready, Story Slam! is Coming! The Mariposa Storytelling Committee has announced the theme for the Story Slam! competition to be held Friday, March 8, 2019. The 2019 theme is “THAT ANIMAL!”
All local tellers are invited to tell a 5 minute personal story. Cash prizes to be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

You have to tell a story – a TRUE and ORIGINAL one, that connects to this year’s theme. Be creative! Your story should have a beginning, a middle, and an end.

Stories will be evaluated by three judges in the audience. You will be judged on your performance, how well the story is crafted, and its connection to the theme.

Your story may only be 5 minutes long, points will be deducted if you go over. You will have a 1-minute warning and a “Wrap up” 30 second warning.

Contestants must be 15 years old, and not a nationally-known storyteller.

Stories must be told, not read. No notes, costumes or props.

Story content must be for a general audience, and rated PG.
