December 5, 2014 - On Saturday December 13, 2014 the Mariposa Lions Club will host the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Courthouse from 5:30 to 9 PM. The Lions will serve the traditional hotdogs, popcorn, and hot chocolate. We are promised a visit from Santa with a bon fire to light the way!
The Mariposa Lions Club was chartered in 1940, began by supporting various building projects and reorganizing and sponsoring the local Boy Scout troop. The Christmas celebration, now known as the Merry Mountain Christmas Tree Lighting, actually began in 1946 with a Christmas Party for children held at the high school. Through the years the event evolved to a gathering at the Courthouse in the 1950’s.
Please join us in this Christmas celebration and keep our traditions alive!
For over 70 years the Mariposa Lions Club has supported local projects, eye care for the needy, student scholarships, and high school extracurricular activities via club fund raisers and donations.
The 2013 Mariposa Lions Club Annual Christmas Tree Lighting was held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Mariposa County Courthouse.
