The closure on SR-140 -- which is still in place for now and ranging from Midpines to near the Yosemite National Park entrance.
This was a pre-emptive closure, stemming from a weather monitoring system for the Ferguson Fire scar that is being co-piloted by U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) Hanford office and District 10.
Yesterday's weather impact showed the decision was a sound one, as there were three-to-four mudslides overnight and debris like rocks came onto the roadway. There are no washouts or injuries reported as of Thursday evening.
Please avoid this area until the highway is re-opened, and as always, thank you for driving safely.
