December 2014 - At the 14^th Annual Law Enforcement Volunteers of California (LEVOC) conference held in October of this year, the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office S.C.O.P.E Volunteers were named “Volunteer Team of the Year.”

The Mariposa County S.C.O.P.E. members volunteer countless hours to the community and to the Sheriff’s Office. They are an integral part of our agency. The SCOPE program is comprised of adult volunteers who assist with the many administrative duties and non-enforcement related patrol functions. Members perform vacation house checks, present crime prevention programs and conduct high visibility patrols. Our members work with uniformed patrol officers to enhance the community awareness of positive law enforcement.

LEVOC is a Non Profit organization comprised of Law Enforcement agencies dedicated to promoting Volunteers in Law Enforcement. The annual LEVOC conference features professional training and provides networking opportunities for volunteers and volunteer coordinators.

The awards are voted on by LEVOC's nominating committee.  The nominating committee this year were made up of members from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, Benicia Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.

In 1999, the first Law Enforcement Volunteer Conference was organized by the Concord Police Department and featured training and information for approximately 100 volunteers and volunteer coordinators. In 2000, several agencies joined with the Concord Police Department and developed the non-profit organization known as Law Enforcement Volunteers of California (LEVOC). The goal of LEVOC is to provide professional training, support and resources for law enforcement volunteers, and to assist agencies interested in developing or enhancing a volunteer program.
