December 12, 2018 - During the month of November, staff worked with students on the meaning of the core virtues of gratitude and generosity. At a school wide assembly on Friday, December 7, teachers recognized students who exemplified these traits.
Great job to Naomi Newman, Cielo Palacio-Baena, Trent Davis, Echo Solis-White, Bret Brown, Khloe Reynolds, Morgan Imrie, Jillian Davis, Estrella Hermosillo, and William Wall.
Chelsea Kamins' transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students performed a song about being thankful to kick off the assembly. Students with excellent attendance (98% or better in trimester 1) were awarded certificates.
In a new tradition started last month, parents/guardians, students, and staff were invited to submit nominations to the office for Staff Member of the Month. Office Manager Robin Cook was this month's recipient. Since Ms. Robin was the one taking pictures at this assembly, she took a selfie with Principal/Superintendent Mindy Bolar.
Throughout the month, students are given tickets when they exhibit behavior that goes beyond what is normally expected. Students place their tickets in jars in their classrooms. When their ticket is picked, they have the option of immediately choosing a prize from the treasure chest in the school office or entering their ticket in a jar for a chance to win the grand prize for the month. Congratulations to this month's winner Conner Eastwood.
