December 12, 2018 - The annual Mariposa Christmas Bird Count, a free event sponsored by the National Audubon Society and Yosemite Area Audubon, is scheduled Saturday, December 15, 2018.  Among the many species that count participants will observe is the Spotted Towhee, a common resident in brushy foothill habitats.  While the count will last the full day, participation for just a portion of the day is acceptable. 

Contact Len McKenzie at (209) 769-0566 or lenmckenzie@yahoo.com for additional information and to sign up for the count in advance.  People may also sign up at 7:00 A.M. on the morning of the count at the Happy Burger Diner.  A meeting to compile the day’s results will occur at 4:30 P.M. at Happy Burger.
