December 6, 2014 - WASHINGTON – RNC Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on Bill Cassidy’s victory in the Louisiana Senate race tonight, which will expand the Republican majority in the U.S. Senate to 54 seats in January:

Reince-Priebus“I want to congratulate Dr. Bill Cassidy on his resounding victory tonight,” said Chairman Priebus. “I also want to congratulate the people of Louisiana on electing a Senator who will go to Washington to fight for working families. Once again, voters have spoken clearly. They have rejected the Democrat agenda and the Obama-Clinton policies that have produced higher healthcare costs and job-killing regulations.

“The RNC was proud to stand with Congressman Cassidy in this election. After November 4, we redeployed our staff from other successful Senate campaigns to Louisiana, even after Democrats abandoned Senator Landrieu. The RNC has had hundreds of people doing Get Out The Vote work, testing and training for 2016.

“Republicans will now hold 54 seats in the U.S. Senate, allowing us to get to work on the pro-jobs legislation that was stalled in the Senate when Democrats were in control. Bill Cassidy will be a champion for policies that create jobs and grow the economy, especially building the Keystone Pipeline. And as a doctor treating the uninsured, he has seen firsthand how ObamaCare has hurt healthcare in this country and will work toward market-driven, patient-centered reforms. Americans’ priorities will be Republicans’ priorities in the new Senate.”
