December 28, 2018 - Twenty-five years ago, local author Karen Bennett had an experience with snails that inspired her first book for children called “A Snail Tale.”
On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, Bennett will be promoting and reading from her new book from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Sue Rhu children’s room at the Oakhurst Library.
An animal lover, Bennett said her new children’s book is based on a true adventure with snails that occurred about a quarter of a century ago in Fortuna, CA. She also mentions her dad, Glenn, in the book.
“I love to make people happy,” said Bennett, who has been an entertainer for most of her life. Her resume includes music teacher, professional artist and published poet.
“Now, I am also an author for children,” she said proudly.
The free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library. For more information, call (559) 683-4838 or visit www.oakhurstfobl.com.
